February 10 - body =9.5”, with 2.75 ribbing of k2tbl, p2 ribbing. Casey’s Not-So-Stretchy Bind-off.
February 4 - 7.5” of sleeve with 6 decreases, 76 stitches so I decreased 6 stitches in last row before starting the colorwork. Finished sleeve with 2-3 rows of stockinette, then 1.25” of k2tbl, p2 ribbing.
January 31 - finished body with 1.75” of k2tbl, p2 ribbing. Bind-off: Casey’s Not-So-Stretchy Bind-off. I’m heading to sleeve island. I’m going to make 3/4 length sleeves so I am hoping to have it blocking in about a week.
Sometime in December - the last 5-6 yoke rounds were really dense, due to so many float catches, what with the long distances between the CC color being used. I didn’t like it so I ripped it back and learned a new technique - The Jacquard Ladderback. I love it.
November 23 - I picked up the neckline stitches on a size 3 lvand added about 1.25” of corrugated ribbing. I’m not sure if I’ll keep it, I’ll figure that out when finishing the sweater.
October 16 - right out of the gate, my gauge is off. I was using wooden cubic needles. A friend suggested I try a different needle - that did the trick! Using my Karbonz needles I was able to get stitch gauge and was closer on the row gauge, which is fine, because my yoke needs to be a bit deeper than what size D calls for. So, I’ll keep an eye on the depth as I near the end of the colorwork and adjust accordingly.
October 14 - I’m using a NSW 3-ply 100% Baby Alpaca in sport weight. I’ll know if it’s a good choice once I swatch. Typically, alpaca has a lot of drape, making it unsuitable for sweaters, as it will grow. However, I’ve used this yarn base before and it’s not as drapey. We shall see, once the swatch is done.
