This is for my first grand-nephew, and as it’s for a boy, I wanted something simple. I made bobbles for the border on each end.

The stitch used for the color blocks is very simple: (sc, hdc) across. I love the textural effect of this stitch combination, and that it’s not just another sc or dc blanket.

The 2-row white strips separating the colors are just sc.

One thing I learned with this one. If you start at the table, stay at the table. Placing a blanket in your lap changes your tension, as the weight of the blanket is pulling it down. I had to frog about 1/3 of this blanket when I realized my working end was 3 inches wider than the beginning. And I don’t like to frog. I worked the rest of the blanket up sitting at the table, and my tension stayed correct.
