Using various shades of purples and greens (plus white) of Stylecraft Special DK for my friend and coworker who is just entering the catastrophic ordeal of breast cancer. I will stitch this up as quickly as I can and get it in the mail to her, then hopefully follow up with something like a shawl or something to help take the chill off her shoulders when she’s not feeling well.
My goal is to create something bright and cheery in her favorite colors. Before it is mailed, it will be anointed and prayed over by my family as well as some prayer warriors at my church. Must work hard and finish quickly.

I did the top slightly different, doing last row of colors, one regular “both loops” row of sc in row, finished off. The next row, green, I did a (spike stitch, sc) all the way around, then a few rows of “both loops” green in sc to give a nice strong band at the top.
It was my husband’s suggestion, after I finished adding the handles, stuffed it and showed it off this morning, to add a strap in the middle. It helps keep it all together instead of flopping a bit, and maybe a little more stability for the crocheted bag. So I found a big brown button in my button tin, made up the strap, did a round of crab stitch around that for, you know, a little added decorative touch, and sewed it on.
All finished, I’m pretty sure it turned out okay.
DISCLAIMER: I have never made one of these before, adding the straps was maybe the hardest part for me, and yeah, I got them a little off. Next time I will make sure to count better instead of “eye measuring”.
