I was asked if I could make a Michael D Higgins tea cosy, and sent a photo of the tea pot. It’s a bit like trying to make a wedding dress with only a photo of the bride! This is on one of mine which is roundy, but hers is tall and thin. I hope it fits, when it’s not stretched!

One tea cosy leads to another! Cosypots updated her pattern to add arms. So the three boyos in the first picture got them. These three were knit in drifter dk held double as per pattern

Having just finished the 13th of these, I’ve made a few changes that make it neater. Maybe it’s because I use cotton for the head and shirt and tie, I find the collar and lapels a bit short. So for the shirt collar I cast on 40 st, and for the jacket collar I added an extra 10 rows between lapels.

Having done another few of these, I have found what works best for me.
I now use acrylic for all parts. Bonus dk is good and firm, especially for the head, as its held singly . Stylecraft special is a bit too thin, and gives a smaller head. I also found that as I use acrylic instead of cotton for the shirt and collar the original number of pattern rows for the lapels is OK. See photo no.2
