Depending on how I feel I either use a size 1 needles with 72 stitches cast on or 1 1/2 needles with 64 stitches cast on. These are with 64 sts which works well with me. I don’t really know what the gauge is really. It just works for me.

My foot size is a 10 1/2 so I make my socks with a leg of about 10” and and do a FSK heel. Because I’m not working a heel with a gusset, that leaves me with more yarn which is why I can make a 10” leg and continue after the heel for about 8” and then start the toe. I usually have left overs this way. They fit great and usually last a couple of seasons.
