Mods: (before I forget all of them :) )
- Gauge is way off, I have 18 cable repeats (40 inches around) 342 sts cast on…
- Added thumb holes for the sleeves
- Knit body in the round
- Attached arm and will be doing a 2x2 cable where the sleeves and the body join
- I wanted the cables to line up, so when I attached the sleeves I moved one cable from the back to the front, so I could do the really cool cable thing for the neck opening and add a bit more space to the front.
- alternating skeins every row (3 skeins at a time when I split out for the neck)
- raglan sleeves, to set in sleeves, to saddle tops
- Twisted reversible cables in the collar to make it both stiffer and to make it look nice from both sides
- ended up getting rid of the thumbholes so that the sleeves are a reasonable length BT had crazy long arms.
- last thing to do is find a zipper for the collar and sew that in :)
NOTES:
- If I was to do the shoulders again, I would cable one more row and then do the saddle off the wrong side stitches
- Would also pick up 5 stitches for every 6 rows because my row gauge is not one to one with my stich gauge.
- Would do this top down so I wouldn’t have to worry about sleeves being too long.
- Recount number of cables in the body (the cables were surprisingly stretchy)
- Figure out some kind of nice cuffs for both the bottom of the body and the sleeves, feels a tad unfinished.
Originally this was for a special BT, Finding stash yarn in SQ that exactly match his eyes was pretty neat. And I still think that he would look fantastic in the sweater, but since that’s not happening anymore, the sweater is going to go live with Dad :)
