12-12-2010 (9 a.m.): FINISHED! This is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever finished. It was not difficult at ALL. After the first couple of repeats, it was pretty intuitive.

Even my (grown) son came through this morning and said “WOW, who is that for???” He brought out his camera to take a picture of the design to show people where he works (state library and archives). I was happy to get that response while it was still laying on a table with towels under it and pins in. :)

(this yarn is damned nice, too. I don’t know if it’s the same color that was used on the original pattern; I didn’t mean for it to be. I just found this skein on Ravelry and chose it from the seller’s photo!)

12-9: I finished the number of repeats designated on the pattern but I have enough yarn left to (maybe) get a full extra pattern on each half before I graft it together. At the very least, I know I can get a “half-pattern” and then graft it together. :)

12-10: finished the extra repeats- now it’s just getting some alone (concentration) time to graft the two halves together.

I want to make this one again if I get the time. It is gorgeous!

35 hours, actual knitting time. worth every second of it. :)
