Notes

Turned out nice, but a little darker than I hoped.

Warp was all Peruvian Tweed, about 16 “ wide
5 Dent Reed

Although I calculated this out for an even 5 ends per inch for both warp and weft, the alpaca packed in much tighter. I tired a very loose packing, but there seemed to be too much space between picks. As a result, I ran out of the Peruvian Tweed much earlier than desired.

From the beginning I was injecting some Charcoal Silky Wool into the material for interest and contrast. As soon as I realized the inevitability of running out of alpaca, I completely transitioned from Tweed (gray) to Silky Wool (black), as shown in the photos.

Lessons Learned:
1. If you wish to see how a knitting yarn will look woven (plain weave), then knit a swatch in stockinette and examine the Reverse Stockinette side. That will give you a close approximation

Final Note:
This turned out scrumptious! The person who now owns it gets a compliment on it EVERY time she wears it out, even after several years!!! The key is to not overbeat the weft in. Keep it very light.
