Photo is modelled on me but it’s for mum so it’s obviously way too big for me!

Mods:

  • Buttons all the way down
  • Two stitch buttonhole like BerryQueen’s version
  • Ribbed bottom rather than garter
  • Lengthened armhole area to fit vertically
  • Picked up 3 out of every 4 sts for the armholes on the straight parts and every stitch for the diagonal decrease areas ensuring it was a multiple of 4 at the end (fudge some extra sts if we needed 1 or 2 to make up the 4 stitch multiple).
  • Less cast off for armholes to make a wider shoulder
  • Pockets picked up and knit from the inside bottom up, picked up and knit the sides of the pocket with the front, cut yarn at the front and grafted pocket to front, 3 needle bind off with the top of the pocket feature, then sew on the top of the pocket with mattress stitch.
  • Pockets are bigger - 27 sts stocking stitch wide.

Mum picked this colour from the Bendy colour cards. She wanted something durable so Bendy Classic it is. It’s a very similar colour to a vest she knit herself a long long time ago but she had to throw that one out since it got old and fell apart.

Early Oct sometime?: Now revised
Need XL measurements but prefer gauge of 23sts/10cm
122+(65*2)-4=248 sts for XL
134+(71*2)-4=272 sts for XXL

248sts/21 = x/23
-> x = 271.6sts = ~XXL size

Oct 28, 2013: Finally decided on knitting to gauge with 4.5mm needles since I sent a message to BerryQueen regarding her version of the cardy. Which means I’m knitting XL as is.

Nov 12, 2013: Modded to have 2x2 rib rather than garter start. Meant I had to fiddle around with stitch counts (2 less and increased the two in the first increase row) in order to get the right patterning for the both fronts. Adding buttonholes right from the beginning.
