A perfect scarf pattern, with a perfect name, for a deserving friend.

After 8 inches I let the recipient have a peek, checking to see if texture and color meet his approval thus far. Big smile. Affirmative. So, churning on ahead now with confidence.

It was VERY boring to knit this, and I’m glad it’s over. The stitch pattern is just simple enough that it couldn’t hold my focus, but just complicated enough that not paying attention meant I made lots of mistakes, which I had to stop and fix. Frustrating. But it’s really perfect for a man’s scarf, especially in this color. In fact it’s a nice basic scarf for anybody, male or female.

I ended up using the entire yardage of 2 skeins. It’s over 6-feet long. Turns out the recipient really wanted it that long. And he is absolutely delighted, which of course makes it all worthwhile.

Sadly, he passed away April 21, sooo sad, miss him lots. His family returned the scarf to me, said I should have it back. He loved that scarf so much, just because it was made especially for him. He showed it off to everybody, and treated it like it was something very precious.

The day I gave him the scarf I took that pic of him wearing it with his own camera phone. After the funeral his family enlarged it and had it framed.
