I really enjoyed this shawl! The HCS is a great looking stitch…but it’s a pain in the ass to do. It’s so slow! It’s kind of like casting off…but having to do it six more times throughout the shawl. Midway through, I just did a knit row on the wrong side that so that I had a garter ridge. It’s not as crisp and neat as the HCS, but it drove me less insane.

Take care with the top edge when blocking. Because of how the shawl increases, there are some strange lumps left between sections. Just make sure to block the edge aggressively and with string or sticks to straighten it out.

Alterations:
Four repeats of section 2 instead of just three.
Three repeats of section 3 instead of just two.
