Another stash buster project!

I bought a blonde 18 in doll that looks like an American Girl doll but another brand for my niece for xmas. I bought some of the shoes they had there and decided to make dresses for the doll. I’m sticking with blonde characters for this doll and may do different hair colors with outfits each xmas. This one is to go with the silver ballet flats I bought and to use up this mystery shiny xmas yarn I got in tote from my aunt.

I ran out of yarn to do the cape…..but she is two so it’ll be alright. As of right now there are no fastenings I have to figure out a toddler safe way to fasten it.

12-12-2015

The dress has fastenings now. I sewed snaps on the back.

I made two more dresses for xmas presents. One with the top made out of caron simply soft snow sparkle and the other made out of Aunt Lydia’s pearl crochet cotton. The cotton looked nicer but was a pain to work with and kind of hard to get on the doll. For my young niece I used the caron simply soft and while it was bulkier, its easier for a young child to get on the doll. I also used the pearl cotton to make the skirt for both dresses. And both are fastened with snaps.

1st dress used caron ss mint blue, knit cro sheen in gray silver and what Im guessing based on the color is knit cro sheen ecru with gold. This used up some of my inherited stash. This is the bottom one that is open in the back.

2nd dress used caron ss mint blue, and caron ss party snow sparkle. This is the middle one with a thicker and longer sleeve.

3rd dress used caron ss mint blue, and aunt lydias cotton in white pearl. This is the one with the cape.
