Pattern available online at this link or in print at this link, in Inside Crochet magazine Issue 28. This design’s impressionistic effect of crisp, unfelted stitches amidst a velvety background of felted fabric is created by a shibori interplay of silk and wool. I’ve also written a detailed tutorial describing the history and techniques of Japanese shibori felting, which is included in Issue 27 of the magazine, along with my Substrate Shibori Scarf pattern. Many thanks to Gina Wilde for introducing me to shibori knitting and inspiring me to try it with crochet!

This bag was inspired by sunlit leaves falling gently into my favorite river, after volunteers planted hundreds of trees to benefit riparian wildlife and fish. 10% of my proceeds from sale of this pattern will be donated to the South Yuba River Citizen’s League (SYRCL, www.yubariver.org). Help your local rivers with International Rivers (www.internationalrivers.org), American Rivers (www.amrivers.org), the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (www2.btcv.org.uk), or the River Restoration Centre (www.therrc.co.uk).
