Swatching 8 June with BC Garn Allino 50/50 linen & cotton. 1st time trying this yarn.
Getting gauge with 4mm needle.
Washed when nearly done with the joined front panel, to see how/ where it would lay. So far so good! Yarn definitely softer after this. Took ages to dry, though, seems longer than the wool/cotton mix.
Finished! I love this, tis looking great with a dress as well as my high waisted jeans. I was curious as to how the yarn would settle out after blocking, as some stitches were definitely looking wonky, but it smoothed out nicely. The lace looks beautiful & I love the lace pattern. I did make a mistake right in the middle of the lace - I was also knitting another time-sensitive lace pattern, that one flat…and I realise that I made the bump row mistake because I read that part of the Lotus Lake Tee pattern as if it were flat (purl side read left to right.) So, Top Tip- maybe avoid knitting a lace in the round pattern at the same time as you are also knitting a lace in the flat pattern!
Intentional modifications I made: sleeve circumference 13in, and I did a few less ribbing rows on the sleeves. I knit the length from underarm is 10.5in, I thought the Cotton linen mix may stretch over time (? not used linen before) so I made it a half inch/ inch shorter than I might have.
I wasn’t sure how a lace pattern would look right over my fluffy tummy (draw more attention than I’d like there?) but it is fine! Lovely swing and drape and I feel very comfortable with it. I’m glad I took this chance to see if such could suit me. Very pleased with this knit!
If you have perhaps knit a few tops before, and are ready to try some longer lace repeats, I think this pattern will work out nicely for you! Enjoy!
