This was a test knit for Anniina Juuti. The pattern is a quick knit for me, and I feel that it will be so for other knitters who have knit a garment before. A good tee for the adventurous beginner who wants to try some simple seaming at shoulders, a bit of short row shaping front & back, and it’s super if you’d like to do a colour block. I just did my colour 1 from cast on to the end of the garter section, and IMO it gives a quite nice ratio of the colours.
The pattern is clear and had a section on how you can easily customize your bicep sleeve circumference if you’d like- which I did. The pattern doesn’t completely hold your hand throughout, but I think an adventurous beginner would be fine - YouTube is always there if you need to see a technique worked. (Which I did go to for the Wrap & Turn short rows, as I’d only done German before. I decided I wanted to learn those rather than substitute German short rows )
I knit the length to my top hip bone, about 11.5 inches from underarm- generally my preferred length. (For reference, I am around 5 foot 1.5 or 156cm) also made a mistake- due to keeping the lambing time night shift during this knit, I knit the back mindlessly in white (sleepily!) a few inches past the garter section where I had meant to change to red. Not a big deal, and I did remember to change to red right after the garter in the front, but if you notice a colour block difference back vs front that is particularly why! Also to note is that I have scoliosis- my spine is twisted & curved, so garments don’t hang evenly on me-- if you notice this it is all due to my body, not anything in the pattern
This is a tee I look forward to knitting again! It’s fun to customize your colour play in it- some testers did stripes, one made some front & back different colours; so many cool ideas!
It was my first time using the Cotton Merino yarn from Drops, and I enjoyed knitting with it. The blend was soft & had elasticity so it didn’t stress my hands like pure cotton has in the past. Also, the red did not run / bleed into the white at all! I had been concerned it might, but it didn’t bleed one bit. A yarn I’ll be using again, very good value natural fibres yarn.
