For all Douglas Adams fans - or for anyone who wants to make a birthday cushion with a number on it.

Tomorrow (8 March 2020) it will be 42 years since the first broadcast of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. As all fans will know 42 is The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

My cushion is small but it could easily be made bigger by using a thicker yarn or adding extra stitches and rows all round. I used Stylecraft Special DK.

This could also hang on the wall because the numbers are only seen when you look at the knitting from the side. From directly in front you only see stripes.
