This illusion knit is inspired by Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

The shawl is a conventional triangular shape, as you can see from the photo taken from directly in front. The other photos are taken from an angle so that you can see the hands. Photos never do justice to illusion knits. They really need to be seen in the flesh.

I added a plain garter stitch border but you could add a fringe or i-cord, if you prefer.

I used the second version in the pattern to make a rectangular wall-hanging.
