I chose to use the rectangular version of the pattern as a wall-hanging but it would also make an interesting stole.

Illusion knits work best if they are knitted tighter than usual. I stretch my wall-hangings over boards so knit them quite tightly. If you were knitting a stole you would need to knit more loosely so the piece is comfortable to wear. It would come out bigger.

The third photo shows what you see when you look straight at the wall-hanging.

This illusion knit is inspired by Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
