This is the first of a number of experiments with knitted polyhedra.
The icosahedron is a mathematical solid with twenty faces, each face being an equilateral triangle.
This representation of the icosahedron has each of these faces created using three congruent right-angled triangles.
The distortion in the edges of the model have come about because of the places that I increased stitches. I can improve on this but haven’t done it yet.
In DK and with needles to give a firm texture the model, with twelve stitches along a side, supports its own weight so doesn’t need any stuffing.
