I first discovered Rhonda Brewer’s Santa’s Clothesline Garland Kit on Ravelry, but the kit had been discontinued and I couldn’t get hold of the pattern (sob!) but then I found Santa’s Wardrobe Ornament Kit by Mary Martin, with a nudge from the lovely Shivaji and was delighted!
Who needs a kit when a pattern alone would suffice! I referred to photos from one and instructions from the other for inspiration, to complete my project with a bit of improvisation. See also HERE
Although it was almost Easter, when I made these I couldn’t resist! These tiny clothes remind me of my childhood imagination/ stories/ Fairy Tales, such as The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Pogle’s Wood pipe-cleaner people and The Borrowers. Pure magic! I had a silly grin just anticipating making them!
Hoorah, since I wrote this the pattern is now available.

Long Johns I knitted these cosy long johns using some Bouclé wool I’ve had in my stash for years. 21.03.13 (In progress photo included.) They measure 4.5” long.
-
I didn’t entirely follow the Jacket instructions in the Mary Martin pattern, as I prefer the style of jacket with trim in Rhonda Brewer’s pattern, so I improvised. 22.03.13 (In progress photo included). I used the Bouclé wool as the trim using garter stitch on first 3 sts of edging in Bouclé then changing to the red.

Breeches started 22.03.13. Again I intend to improvise a little to add those cute braces that appear in this pattern by Rhonda Brewer. Braces: I cast on 40sts then knitted a row and cast off again for each one.
-
Scarf Since the pattern I used did not have one, I made my scarf from red and green Perle No 5 crochet cotton, casting on 8sts and knitting until it seemed a suitable length. Then I sewed on threads as tassles.

Socks for the Mary Martin pattern these were rather disappointing, so I modified them to make them more of a sock shape and more in proportion to the other clothes.
-
For Santa’s gift-filled stocking I used the Mini Christmas Stocking Ornament pattern
-
Mittens. I have not yet made these as the Mary Martin pattern made them seem too big, proportionally, for the other clothes. Maybe I will in time for this Christmas…
