Really pleased with the way the MKAL 2022, Twists and Turns has turned out.
Received a "Best in Section" rosette at the 2023 Chilliwack Fair. Also received a 1st place ribbon in the "Knit or Crochet, larger handspun article" classification.
On display in the Community Art Show at the Chilliwack Museum until December 23, 2023.
After a full month of knitting every day for hours on end, the Twists and Turns shawl is finally complete and blocking.
I love the shawl, as an art piece, but I find that I'm not much one for wearing shawls.
The edging I added to the shawl does seem to correct the curling problem with the "wavy river" section.
I like the way the edging brings the wing section and the centre section together.
Continuing on from the end of the striped wing section I've added a 5 stitch border to help prevent the curling that is happening along the twisted stitch band.
I'm really pleased with the way the accent colour band within the chevrons "pops".
After much consideration and second guessing I finally went with an entirely different colour for the second AC.
Trying to decide which yarn I should use for the I-cord embellishment of the antler cable.
At the end of Clue 3, before making any I-cord, I have 3.1 ounces or 88g left. Not sure of the yardage because I can't find my yardage counter!
Clue 3 complete, minus the optional "worms" that are worked through the cables. I only have 3.1 ounces of AC left so I'm waiting to see what Clue 4 brings before committing to the I-cord worms.
Finished Clue 2 with my modification of the smaller cable.
I've decided that I like the look of the "O" cable being closed before bind off (bottom example) so now I need to rip back the I-cord bind off and last row of the 4th section (top) and reknit them. too bad I hid the ends so well.
I didn't bother to close the final "O" cable, but you could. It would involve doing the cable movements while also decreasing.
I switched out the "S" shaped cables for the small "O" ones shown here. It's a simple substitution.
On Rows 5, 13, 21, and 29 do a C4B, C4F.
On Rows 9, 17, and 25, do a C4F, C4B.
Considering bringing in the blue as a bonus "pop" colour.
This 2nd clue is a LOT of knitting. I don't think there is any way I will be finished before Clue Three drops.
This photo shows a little of the colour variation in the darker handspun.
Finished Clue One with only a few hours to spare.
Every edge finished with I-cord and only the loops left "live". Hmm, wonder where this is going?!
Hmmm, stitch count correct for repeat 11, but I already am working on my 14th CC stripe. Something's off somewhere?
Trying so hard to be a good little knitting companion and then Mama tempts fate by doing something like this!
My progress as of the end of day one.
Just had to try that looping technique, but I took it out again for now since it is bulky and gets in the way of the knitting process.
Clue one has us casting on and casting off again, repeatedly.
I'm very pleased with the way my three handspun yarns play together in the swatch.
The vibrant green yarn is a wee bit thicker than the other two but it seems to knit up with the others okay.
My three colour choices. All handspun.
