This is a great pattern for beginning Cables. When I started out I noticed that I was picking up stitches or adding yo’s somehow. It’s important to go slow and double check your work making sure stitches on the cable are knitted properly and that the yarn isn’t wrapped around your needle or cable needle in the wrong way. Be forgiving of yourself if you have a few snafu’s in the beginning that’s normal and with practice you’ll get it down in no time. I used acrylic yarn here and the problem I encountered with it is the yarn itself starting to fray/split a bit making it possible to accidentally split one stitch into 2 which will give you extra st’s on your needle that should not be there. Initially I didn’t like working with acrylic because of this but as I got used to working with it it became a bit easier. Also the yarn I’m using here is multi-colored so the cables sort of gets lost in the work. Personally I recommend using a solid color or something with minimal flecks in it so it doesn’t distract from all of your hard work doing the cables. All in all though I’m satisfied with the end result.
