FINAL NOTE: After removing the pins and weaving in the ends “I absolutely love it”. I hope my mom does to. I guess you just need to get all the steps complete before you judge your own work. Lesson learned.
12/13/15 UPDATE: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE SO-SO
After starting this shawl nearly a year ago and a million procrastinations later I have finally finished it. Here are the lessons I’ve learned. Adding that extra “odd” stitch to work an even picot bind off is not a good idea because it leaves a noticeable gap in your work. Doing a tight bind off is better than one too loose as it creates better defined piques (IMHO). T-pins are the best thing since sliced bread but you’ll need a whole lot of them as you pin out your points. Finding a ladder in your work while it’s drenched is better than finding it when your work is dry, if this has ever happened to you then you understand why. This is the first time I’m blocking (really blocking) my work but waiting now for the final dried product. Note: a blocked work doesn’t “always” hide mistakes… believe me I wish that were not true but take your time creating your masterpiece; if you see a mistake in the previous row go back and fix it, it’s worth it in the long run. And finally… this yarn is sold in a loose hank and doesn’t wind well on a swift or ball winder. I painstakingly hand wound my second skein after the nightmare I experienced with the first one. Believe me this was a life saver.
PREVIOUS NOTES:
Restarted this one and so far so good. After starting Rows 1-14 make sure you place markers after the braided part that defines each section. Then row 15 applies to each section (you should have 8 separate sections). So make sure you… YO, K1, YO K2, YO, K until 2 stitches before your first marker then K2TOG. Repeat this 7 times for each of your remaining sections and this is how you increase between your spirals. Now when you alternate back to row 14 knit until 2 stitches before your first marker then K2tog, again repeat this for each of your remaining 7 sections. I hope this helps. Happy Knitting!!

I started this project on only 2 needles for a bit before switching to DPNs and then switched to a 16inch circular needle for a while before putting this on a 32inch.
