I made two pairs using size 8 DPNS: Cast on 40 sts, work 2x2 rib stitch for 7.5 inches, (create thumb hole) bind off 6 stitches and then cast-on 6 in very next row (knit wise) directly above last row, work for another 3-4 inches 2x2 ribbed and then bind off. Weave in ends and your done.

The second pair was made a little smaller for my younger niece. Cast on 36 on size 7 dpns. These measure about 6 1/2 from base to thumb hole and then work another 3 inches for the hand.
