Finally get to start on my first Sophie!! I wanted to find a special design to make for my grandma. She always makes other people quilts and things, so it will be amazing when I hand her a Sophie :) As if there weren’t enough Sophie’s and comments and such out there, I plan on posting a picture after each part just so I can record her growing :) OMG listen to me talking as though Sophie is a living thing…it is weird but it is almost like she is!! God help me lol
Part 1 I had to restart due to me making a mistake in the fourth round (lol) I added sts somehow…atleast it was in the beginning so it didn’t hurt at all :)
Part 2 was a breeze! I really enjoy the pattern and Dedri’s references within the pattern telling you where your last st should fall on the previous row is a Godsend. I like her writing style alot :)
Part 3 you get to see Sophie start to shine :) At the end you look at her in a whole different light! 20”
Part 4 is HUGE! Sophie gets squared up and you get to do alot of detail :) The instructions are too awesome for words. Very clear and fun! 23”
Part 5 is fun :) I did have to frog a few of my petals on Round 41 until I FINALLY realized that first sc is not included in the initial repeat lol. Once that became clear to me (totally my fault) then it was smooth sailing :) the roses were fun and look awesome! 30”
Part 6 is smooth :) i had to switch up my color order to ensure my leaves stay green but it turned out good :) 36”
Part 7 felt like it went very quickly and the roses were fun to make! She is meauring in at 40”
Part 8 was SO fun with cable stitches, zig zags and a new kind of flower not to mention pretting up the short side flowers :) Sophie is now measuring at 46”
Part 9 went quickly :) all those popcorns were so much fun and, yet again, Dedri put my worries to rest by tacking down that middle petal :) i kept staring at it wanting to fold over and just kept going then boom - second to last round she comes through again :) i am in awe through this whole design! Measuring at 53”
Part 10 was sc sc sc sc!! I did chuckle at Dedri’s fair warning at the beginning of the part lol. It was still fun ;) oddly enough Sophie is measuring 53”…so im thinking i must have over stretched her last round lol
Part 11 was just like we did before just more sts in between ;)
Part 12 was again just like we have done before just more sts in between :) SO exciting to be so close to the end!! I can’t wait for my grandmother to see it!!
Part 13 was simple yet exciting because it is finally the start of the butterflies round which indicates…the end is near ;) i have been thinking of the butterfly round since the day i started Sophie. I believe it is such an important part of the design and literally will make or break your sophie. I couldnt pick the exact color to use!! Then i got to the round before i was expecting so panic set in LOL. I finally decided to go with the rose since so many other important sections of my sophie use that color. I want it to flow yet pop so HOPEFULLY it will turn out :) onto 14!!
Part 14 butterflies done!! I am pretty happy with using rose for the color. I think it brightens it up nicely :) i am anxious to get the rest of the rounds on to even it out and i plan on doing BBB as well. Love it!!
Part 15 went very quick!! Another section of those awesome popcorn flowers :) love how they pop out!! The end is SO close :)
Part 16 yet another quick part! Absolutely LOVE the look of the persian stitch. Will definitely keep that in my arsenal :)
Part 17 is simple, just boring typical sts throughout ha ha. Now that Sophie is getting SO big, seems like each side is forever lol. OMG…part 18 is here!! I cant believe the last part of Sophie :( then onto BBB!!
Part 18 done!! Which means…Sophie is done :) i have changed my mind on BBB. I think it will take away from it so i am off to pick a stitch for my border :)
BORDER - I wanted something simple but elegant for the border and couldnt find anything i liked so i just played around and ended up doing a picot type border around. The small ones are just (ch 2, sl st, ch 3, sl st, ch 2, sl st) in the same st and the corners are (ch 4, sl st, ch 6, sl st, ch 4, sl st) with however many you want between (i did a picot in every 8th st)
