I have these yarns in stash and I’m sure they’ll play nicely together in this pattern. I love this pattern and always get lots of compliments on the vests.

I’m going to start by making a pile of the centers, from both colorways. I’ll use the yarn I have more of for the “glue” part, then both again for the corner small flowers. Then we’ll see what’s left for the borders!

Dec 25, 2019: have my pile of flowers and the 8 half flowers. Comparing to my older vests, I could make this one 18 flowers around and have it fit, but I already finished the 168 flowers for 20 around.

I’m scheming a way to minimize the number of ends for phase 2. I’m going to go all around the bottom, picking up the 20 flowers around, then go up and down each column. I think this will generate very few ends. Later: it worked, but I still broke it where the half flowers come in, going up the full flowers, break, down the half flowers. I also decided it can use some smaller half-flowers in the underarm area.

Mulling on the fit in the underarm, I’m thinking of making the arm hole bigger, needing two extra flowers and two extra half-flowers to do so. The whole thing will be half a flower longer - I think that’s OK. I don’t want to undo everything and put half-flowers in the underarm instead of some full flowers (maybe next time).
