Cast on 6 sts on each of 4 DPNs (4mm) and join in the round. Knit for 2” then K2tog, K to end on each needle for next 4 rounds to leave 8 sts in total.
Knit one round, then work M1, K1, M1, K1 on each needle to give 16 sts in total. Continue without shaping until head measures 1”. Work K2tog all round and then break yarn and pull through remaining 8 sts. Pull tight and darn in end.
Stuff head from underneath and then wrap a length of yarn tightly around the neck, tie and darn in ends.
Add orange beak (cast on 8 sts on smaller needles and cast off immediately) and embroider on eyes in black yarn.
Takes about 7g of fluffy yarn per chick.
