Had to change the yarn, I’m not supposed to use any animal protein fibre for this project. Switched to 100% bamboo handspun from the Fiber Imp handpainted top.

Using 3 or 3.5 mm needles.
Just COed the sts and started writhing up the pattern.
Planning the design and thinking through the knitting way took approximately 1.5 hrs (included in knitting time in stopwatch).

Bamboo fibre handspun yarn was chosen for this project because it is suitable for shawls - silky, drapy, lustrous. From my previous experience with bamboo I know I enjoy both spinning and knitting it.
90 g bamboo top braid is a good weight for spinning to make enough heavy-lace-weight yarn for a small/medium size shawl.
In order to be practical and use up as much spun yarn the best pattern would be the one knitted top-down until all the yarn is used up.
The shawl is planned to be lace-patterned. That type of knitting works best with the solid and gradient colours. Chain plying was chosen to avoid heathered effect which can often happen with multicoloured braid spinning if plying from multiple bobbins.
Approximately 1.5 hrs was used to decide on the shawl shape, knitting needles size (no swatches were made, the decision on needle size was based on previous bamboo fibre spinning and shawl knitting experience, and looking up previously knitted shawls), stitch/pattern choice, and creating a pattern sketch.
