I am using the Florentine Frieze pattern, that Barbara G. Walker published in her “A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns”. I did a swatch of one pattern repeat and calculated the amount of stitches I would need for a loop that goes bottom up. Of course the number of stitches must divide through the number of stitches of one pattern repeat in order to keep the pattern correct.

I started with a tubular CO of 315 st and knitted 4 rows of 1k, sl1wiyf. Then I joined in the round and knitted 3 rounds of 1k 1p ribbing. Then I started with the frieze pattern, mixing the chosen colours in a way, that it would look almost like fabric.

Finished. I knitted 32 cm in frieze pattern. Then 6 rows in k1, p1 ribbing , then 1row st. stitches in the same colour as the ribbing after CO. Then I continued with 2 rows of 1k 1p ribbing, to finish with a tubular BO.
