→ Lorsque j’ai crocheté le “Mini sac à coulisse” en mars 2022, j’ai trouvé que celui-ci avait une apparence de gant de toilette. J’ai alors repris le modèle de Nordic Hook en l’adaptant pour qu’il soit plus grand et qu’il y ait une attache. J’ai également enlevé le rang avec les trous servant à faire passer une cordelette.

→ Le gant a été crocheté en 4mm avec du coton non mercerisé vert et blanc. J’ai commencé avec une chaînette de 29 mailles, chaque rang ayant 56 mailles. J’ai monté un total de 42 rangs.

→ Au départ, le gant de toilette devait être vert uni. Or, comme je n’aurais pas eu assez de fil pour le faire en entier de cette couleur, j’ai fait les rangs 15 à 38 en blanc. J’ai terminé le gant par 3 rangs de mailles serrées et 1 rang de point d’écrevisse en vert.

→ Pour l’attache, j’ai utilisé le reste de coton vert et un crochet 3,5mm et j’ai fait comme suit :
ch16, 15mc dans le brin à l’arrière des ml, à partir de la 2ème maille du crochet ;
Couper le fil en laissant une vingtaine de centimètres.
Coudre l’attache sur l’un des côtés du gant avec une extrémité de l’attache au rang 35 et l’autre extrémité au rang 36.

→ Le gant mesure environ 18cm de large sur 12,5cm de haut.

→ Le gant de toilette tient bien à la main et ne tombe pas, même une fois mouillé. Le gel douche mousse bien mais le savon solide part vite, il faut en remettre plusieurs fois. Il met plus de temps à sécher qu’un gant de toilette classique mais il ne goutte pas si on l’essore bien. La partie verte est assez rêche une fois mouillé contrairement à la partie blanche qui est plus souple et douce. Cela s’explique probablement par la différence d’épaisseur des deux cotons, le blanc étant plus fin que le vert, alors que l’ensemble a été crocheté avec la même taille de crochet.

→ Je pense faire un essai de modèle de gant de toilette au crochet tunisien. La texture des points de cette technique étant plus “plates” et “pleines”, le gant sera peut-être moins rêche et plus moussant.

→ When I crocheted the “Small alpine stitch bag” in March 2022, I found that it had a washcloth appearance. So I took the Nordic Hook pattern and adapted it to be larger and to have a string. I also removed the row with the holes used to pass a cord.

→ The washcloth was crocheted with a 4mm crochet hook, with green and white non-mercerized cotton. I started with a 29 stitches chain, each row having 56 stitches. I crocheted a total of 42 rows.

→ Originally, the washcloth was going to be solid green. However, since I wouldn’t have enough yarn to make it all in that color, I made rows 15-38 in white. I finished the washcloth with 3 rows of single crochet and 1 row of crab stitch in green.

→ For the string, I used the remaining green cotton and a 3,5mm crochet hook and did as follows :
ch16, 15slst in the strand at the back of the ch, starting at the 2nd stitch from the crochet hook ;
Cut the yarn leaving about twenty centimeters.
Sew the string to one side of the washcloth with one end of the string at row 35 and the other end at row 36.

→ The washcloth is about 18cm (7.1”) wide by 12,5cm (4.9”) high.

→ The washcloth holds well in the hand and does not fall off, even when wet. The shower gel lathers well but the solid soap goes away quickly, you have to put more of it several times. It takes longer to dry than a classic washcloth but it does not drip if you wring it out well. The green part is quite rough when wet unlike the white part which is softer. This is probably due to the difference in thickness of the two cottons, the white being thinner than the green, while the whole was crocheted with the same size of crochet hook.

→ I’m thinking of trying a tunisian crochet washcloth pattern. The texture of the stitches in this technique being more “flat” and “full”, the washcloth will perhaps be less rough and more foamy.
