LE SAPIN

→ Cette année, je voulais crocheter un sapin miniature que je prendrais plaisir à décorer chaque année. Je l’ai fait assez grand pour qu’il puisse accueillir différentes décorations, dont celles que l’on peut trouver facilement en magasin. Il est également adapté à la taille de mes MilliGurumis ! Pour cela, j’ai jeté mon dévolu sur le sapin n°3 que je trouve joli et qui possède des feuilles pratiques pour y poser de la décoration.

→ J’ai trouvé la construction du sapin ingénieuse : monter le corps et les branches en même temps sur deux rangs est pratique pour juger de la taille finale et éviter les désagréments de manque de fil !

→ J’ai monté le sapin au crochet 3mm avec de l’acrylique vert forêt jusqu’à avoir 52 mailles, en augmentant de 2 mailles tous les 2 rangs, soit 20cm de haut. J’ai ensuite mis en pause le fil pour rembourrer l’intérieur. Comme l’intérieur est composé de brides, il fallait créer une protection pour empêcher le rembourrage de sortir. Pour cela, j’ai pris un morceau de recouvre-livre en plastique que j’ai plié en cône de la forme et de la taille de l’intérieur du sapin. Je l’ai agrafé, rembourré puis entouré de scotch pour le solidifier. J’ai ensuite tracé un trait à la base pour couper l’excédent qui dépaissait du sapin. Pour finir, j’ai placé le cône rembourré dans le sapin et j’ai continué à crocheter pour fermer ce dernier.

→ J’ai ensuite crocheté un tronc avec de l’acrylique marron, le même crochet et en mailles serrées torses. Je l’ai “rembourré” avec une bande de carton enroulée avant de le coudre au sapin avec une aiguille à laine.

→ Le sapin seul mesure environ 23,5cm de haut sur 10cm de diamètre.

LES DÉCORATIONS

- 2023 -

→ En guise de boules, j’ai retrouvé des perles blanches nacrées de 12mm de diamètre. Afin de les faire tenir sur le sapin, j’ai placé ces perles sur une longue chaînette d’environ 120cm réalisée avec un crochet 1mm et de la DMC Babylo 30 col. 390 vert forêt. Une fois les perles sur la chaînette, j’ai noué les extrémités avec un triple nœud pour les empêcher de partir, puis j’ai rentré les fils. Ainsi, il ne reste plus qu’à placer la chaînette sur le sapin et faire glisser les boules là où on le souhaite !

→ Concernant les guirlandes, j’ai acheté deux boîtes de 3 rubans de 2 mètres pour emballage cadeau chacune, une dans les tons rouges, l’autre dans les tons dorés. J’ai notamment utilisé la rouge poilue sur laquelle j’ai glissé de mini grelots dorés. Certains rubans ressemblent à de vrais guirlandes en miniature, c’est trop mignon ! Avec ça, je pourrais varier les envies selon les années !

→ Mon chéri m’a acheté une mini guirlande lumineuse de 1m avec 20 Micro LED de couleur blanc chaud, de marque Lights4fun sur Amazon. Cette guirlande fonctionne à piles avec un boitier nécessitant 3 piles AA. Pour éviter de consommer des piles, nous avons bricolé, avec le chéri, un raccordement de la guirlande sur un câble de chargeur de téléphone USB 2.0 vers USB Micro-B : en nous aidant de cette vidéo YouTube, nous avons coupé l’embout Micro-B pour y souder la guirlande lumineuse puis nous avons mis du scotch d’électricien pour sceller le tout. Et ça fonctionne à merveille !

→ Il ne peut pas y avoir de sapin sans étoile ! J’en ai donc crocheté une avec du fil Ricorumi Lamé col. 001 argenté et un crochet 2,5mm. Je l’ai plantée au sommet du sapin avec une épingle à tête ronde.

LE SOCLE

→ Avec le chéri, nous avons construit un socle et sa bordure de petites barrières avec différents matériaux (bois, carton, cylindres de glace, touillettes à café…) qui seront amenés à être décorés au fil des années !

→ Le socle entier avec les barrières mesure environ 12,5cm de diamètre sur 3,5cm de haut. Le sapin avec les décorations et son socle mesure environ 25,5cm de haut sur 12,5cm de diamètre.

THE TREE

→ This year, I wanted to crochet a miniature tree that I would enjoy decorating every year. I made it big enough to accommodate a variety of decorations, including those easily found in supermarkets. It’s also adapted to the size of my MilliGurumis ! For this purpose, I chose tree no. 3, which I think is pretty and has practical leaves for decorations.

→ I found the construction of the tree ingenious : crocheting the body and the branches at the same time over two rows is practical for judging the final size and avoiding the inconvenience of running out of thread !

→ I crocheted the tree with a 3mm (C) crochet hook and forest green acrylic until I had 52 stitches, increasing 2 stitches every 2 rows, i.e. 20cm (7.9”) high. I then paused the thread to stuff the inside. As the inside is made up of double crochet, I needed to create a protection to prevent the stuffing from coming out. To do this, I took a piece of plastic book cover and folded it into a cone of the shape and size of the inside of the tree. I stapled it, stuffed it and wrapped tape around it to solidify it. I then drew a line at the base to cut off the excess that was coming off the tree. Finally, I placed the stuffed cone inside the tree and continued crocheting to close it.

→ I then crocheted a trunk with brown acrylic, the same hook and in X shaped single crochet. I “stuffed” it with a rolled-up strip of cardboard before sewing it to the tree with a wool needle.

→ The tree alone is about 23,5cm (9.3”) high and 10cm (3.9”) in diameter.

THE ORNAMENTS

- 2023 -

→ For the baubles, I used 12mm diameter pearly white beads. To hold them in place on the tree, I placed the beads on a long chain about 120cm long, made with a 1mm crochet hook and DMC Babylo 30 col. 390 forest green. Once the beads were on the chain, I tied the ends with a triple knot to prevent them from slipping off, then wove in the ends. All that’s left to do is place the chain on the tree and slide the baubles where desired !

→ For the tinsel, I bought two boxes of 3 x 2 meters gift-wrapping ribbons each, one in red tones, the other in gold. Some of the ribbons look like real garlands in miniature, it’s so cute ! In particular, I used the furry red one on which I slipped miniature gold bells. With these, I could vary the look from year to year !

→ My boyfriend bought me a 1m mini light garland with 20 warm white Micro LEDs, from Lights4fun on Amazon. This garland is battery-powered, with a box requiring 3 AA batteries. To avoid consuming batteries, we worked with the darling to connect the garland onto a USB 2.0 to USB Micro-B phone charger cable : with the help of this YouTube video, we cut the Micro-B end to solder the garland light to it, then put electrician’s tape to seal the whole thing. And it works like a charm !

→ There can’t be a Christmas tree without a star ! So I crocheted one with Ricorumi Lamé col. 001 silver thread and a 2,5mm (C) crochet hook. I pinned it to the top of the tree with a round-headed pin.

THE STAND

→ With the darling, we built a base and its border of small barriers with different materials (wood, cardboard, ice cylinders, coffee stirrers…) that will be decorated over the years !

→ The entire stand with barriers is about 12,5cm (4.9”) in diameter and 3,5cm (1.4”) high. The tree with the ornaments and the stand is about 25,5cm (10”) high and 12,5cm (4.9”) in diameter.
