This was an experiment in slip stitches. I wanted to show off the self-striping yarn with a simple stitch.

Increasing at the beginning & end of every row (2 sc) & the middle on every other row (3 sc). The gray solid part at the top is sc through both loops. The stripes are sc through front loop (wrong side) and back loop (right side).

Starting chain & 1st row: I started with a chain of 32. 2 Sc in second chain from hook, sc next 14 ch, 3sc, sc in next 14 ch, 2 sc in last ch. This makes the shawl an obtuse triangle shape. I don’t want the length to grow too fast because I prefer it shorter in the back.

The ribbed effect made it necessary to block at what I think is going to be the midpoint to see what size it really is. I plan to finish it off with several rows of gray sc in both loops and possibly a colorful border.

Update 2 8/24:

After wearing this a couple of times, even with some steaming, i realize that the straight edge rolls up way more than is acceptable to me. I added a scalloped border that seems to minimize the problem. About to block again and see what happens.
