To make ears and horns:

With smaller needles, cast on 31 sts, join to make round. Knit in magic loop in stockinette until desired height before beginning points. For long horns/ears:

1) ssk, knit around to last to sts, k2tog
2) knit all sts
3) repeat these rows 1 & 2 until you have 20 sts left, then:
4) ssk, k6, k2tog, ssk, k6, k2tog
5) knit all sts
6) repeat rows 4 and 5, where the stitches between the ssk and k2togs decrease by two each time until you have 6 stitches total.
7) cut yarn, thread yarn through remaining 6 sts and pull tight.

For smaller ears/horns:
Same as above, except work rows 4 and 5 when you want to begin making the points.

Stuff all horns and ears and sew onto the hat.
