I am taking the pattern as a spring point. Like the shape & style. Hope it will work with the yarn.

On the pattern page, I was this:

I like the look of it. So I plan to do that for the lace parts.

Also, I am going to do stockinette for the solid area with 3 sts for the garter border. I like stockinette.
