I really loved this pattern ever since I saw it. It immediately went in the queue and kept waiting to find the right yarns for it.

I cast on The First Draft Vonnegut in the Three Councils colorway for a Hitchhiker. Didn’t like the texture of the bamboo & garter. I really wanted to have a pattern with stockinette.

I went looking at my queue. This pattern seems perfect. The colorway gradates from black to grey to white & back again. I think it will look great with the striping.

Then what for the contrast yarn? I went looking for bamboo or silk blend to pair with the Vonnegut. I wanted a purple & needed something without too much variegation in the yarn. I pulled out multiple things & liked the look of the Schaefer. It has a bit of variegation, but not too much.

Hope this turns out well. If it does, it may become my go to shawl as it is a shape I like a lot.

Using a size 5 needle as I can’t locate my 6s. I actually swatched with the 5s & 7s. But the 5 looked better.

Still feels a bit stiff. I am really hoping it loosens up with washing.
