Notes for future knitters

If this is a gift for an adult, or for a child who is not at risk for choking hazards, consider using beans in the bottom of the hooves and base of the body. Or beans for everything but the snout and head if you’re going for the OG beanie baby effect.

If you’re looking for structure without beans, trim a small disk from a fine plastic tapestry canvas for the bottom of the hooves. Overstuff just enough that the plastic canvas doesn’t bend out of shape. When attaching the legs, do not consolidate stitches as directed at the end of leg instructions. Instead, use rounds 4 & 5 and 30 & 30½ to consolidate 9 leg stitches per leg, per row. (that is, insert a k row between 30 & 31 to use for leg-consolidating). Make sure the body is stuffed enough that it can make use of the extra space in the leg attachment.
