02/13/2014 cont’d — …and now I’m finished with both mittens. I won’t be making the string or attaching buttons. But I will be soaking them in woolwash and blocking them slightly.

Mods
When picking up the thumb stitches from the waste yarn, I also picked up 2 add’l sts where thumb separates from the hand. This was done to minimize the gap that inevitably forms at this fiddly location.

02/13/2014 — Instead of using smaller needles to cast on 44 sts, I used the larger needles (US 3) & Magic Loop method to cast on 40 sts, knit in 1×1 rib for 1.5”, then increased 4sts during the 3 St st rounds following cuff. Now following directions as written.
