Notes

I used the German Twisted Cast On.

I used the decrease bind off from Semplice Fingerless Mitts.

I used the smaller needles for the top of the mitt rib.

I worked the first mitt’s thumb per “right mitten” instructions and my first thumb stitch was really big so I reversed the shaping for the second mitt but it didn’t seem to make a difference.

I knit the mitts 2.5” long after finishing the thumb gusset instead of 3” long. I worked 0.5” in stockinette after placing the lifeline for the flip top instead of 1”.

I placed a lifeline for picking up the flip top stitches instead of working that round with 2 strands of yarn.

I knit the flip top 3.5” long instead of 3” long. I worked 1” in stockinette after the rib and before the top shaping instead of 0.5”.

I used conductive thread on the thumb. I worked the first 8 rnds with the main yarn and worked rnds 9-11 and the decrease rnd with a strand of fingering weight yarn held together with a strand of conductive thread.

Mitt:
-18 rnds rib (3”)
-3 rnds stockinette (0.5”)
-12 rnds thumb gusset (2”)
-7 rnds stockinette, lifeline for mitt top - 6.5” long
-3 rnds stockinette (0.5”)
-6 rnds rib (1”) - 8” long

Flip Top:
-6 rnds rib (1”)
-6 rnds stockinette (1”)
-9 rnds shaping (1.5”)

The yarn was a gift from my Grandmother-in-Law.

Measurements:

  • Circumference: 7”
  • Mitt Length: 8”
  • Hand Length: 5”
  • Rib Length: 3”
  • Flip Top Length: 3.5”
  • Thumb: 3” circumference, 2” long

Total Cost: $4.99
