Gauge:

• 24 sts x 32 rnds = 4” in stockinette
• 40 sts x 32 rnds = 4” in rib

The pattern says the finished length is 8.5” but then also says to continue in rib until mitt measures 7”. If 8.5” is the intended length, you would work even for 3” after the thumb gusset. If 7” is the intended length, you would work 1.5” even after the thumb gusset.

I split the difference and knit 2” even after the thumb gusset for a 7.5” length.

Since my row gauge was off I knit 2 extra rnds even before putting the thumb gusset sts on hold.

I picked up 2 extra sts for the thumb to avoid holes and then decreased on the next rnd.

I omitted the cross stitch.

I used the German Twisted Cast On.

I used the decrease bind off from Semplice Fingerless Mitts.

-rib for 3” (24 rnds)
-thumb gusset - 2.5” (19 rnds)
-rib for 2” (16 rnds)

Measurements:

• Helene’s Hand Circumference: 7.25”
• Circumference: 4”
• Circumference in Stockinette: 6.5” (40 sts)
• Total Length: 7.5”
• Hand Length: 4.5”
