Notes

This pattern looks great without any alterations from me, but the recipient would like a “fade,” so instead of doing color blocks punctuated by a contrast color, I’m going to do 6-7 colors blending from one to another. I may alter the frequency/rhythm of the pattern repeats so I can make the color blocks somewhat equal and do the blending or color change on a garter stripe. I think it will work well, assuming I pay attention to when I want to switch colors. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

Why did I call this “Indian Bambara Wrap?”
I knit this for Sandy, my friend who was traveling to India to attend a wedding. She had been musing about bringing scarves and such that would allow her to cover her shoulders and head when appropriate to be respectful of local customs. Well, I decided that this was a perfect opportunity to knit her something in the jewel tones we has discussed previously.

Of course, this is where my inexperience shows… the finished shawl was way too heavy to be practical in India. Not only would it be too hot, but it was actually heavy for a garment and it’s wise to limit the weight of your luggage. I should have chosen a different fiber, but I was so I love with these yarns in these colors that I couldn’t walk away. So, my friend Sandy loves her “Indian Bambara Wrap,” and swears she’s received many compliments, but I don’t think it’s ever left the Cincinnati area. lol
