Keeping the edge loose:
Be sure to keep the 4 edge stiches loose to
avoid distorting the final shape of your shawl. In order to achieve consistent looseness, I knit normally, but added a “yarn over” in the 4 edge stiches at the beginning of the row (or right side), then dropped the “yarn over” from the 4 edge stiches at the end of the row (or left side)—on both the right side and wrong side of knitting.
