I was inspired to make this afghan by seeing the “Vintage Rose” hexagons throw by Carol Alexander in the pamphlet called “Annie’s Attic #870814, Crochet Rose Garden Afghans.” It is the one pictured on the front cover bottom right side. The throw reminded me of lacy round white doilies with a rose inside of a hexagon. Somewhat of an illusion like I have not seen in any other throw before. I decided to make the hexagon into a square instead and join it differently.

I did a bunch of multi-colored Roses, light sage Picot Leaves and White Doily with an (H) hook.

For the white doily, I did an additional/extra row of the chain 5 and sc into the space.

I squared out the round doily with Burgundy using a “J” hook.

I did the joining of the squares with a “K” hook.

The Rose squares will be joined using the joining method from the pattern called “Vintage Christmas Throw by Katherine Eng.”

For the Border Edging I used an “I” hook.
