This is a Beautifully Written pattern that comes with detailed photos called “Vintage Wild Roses Blanket” by Barbara Carlettini aka BarbaraCM66 on Ravelry here; http://www.ravelry.com/projects/BarbaraCM66/vintage-wild-...

Notes;
Because I decided to use a different Rose pattern for this blanket than the pattern suggested, I had to change the pattern a little in places to accommodate. The cream around the roses and leaves were done with 4 dc and then ch 2, repeat all around The square that filled in between the circle medallions was modified and made without the last row around the square in order to fit nicely.

To connect the squares, I did the ch 2 , sc, ch 2 method (Braiding) like I did on my Granny Circles Afghan project.

For the border I went one hook size smaller by using an “H” hook. Starting by a slip stitched into the back loop of the sc between the points, then skip 1 chain, slip stitch into the back loop of the next 2 chains. When you get to the points there are 2 chains, go into the back loop of each and sc, chain up 2 and do a picot, then sc into the next ch at the point and repeat another picot. There should be two picots at each point. After the two picots are done, slip stitch in the back loops of the next two chains, then skip 1 chain, then sl st into the back loop of that center chain, then skip 1 chain again and repeat.

To make this Elegant Coverlet I conneted 36 Medallion Circles of Roses (6 medallions by 6). Made to fit a queen size bed and hang halfway down the bed. Each Medallion Circle consists of 8 roses and 1 round doily each, for a total of 288 roses and 36 doilies. The 35 “holes” between the medallions are covered with thirty white squares that are joined to the Medallions during their last round.

I was able to do up 27 roses from one skein of the Red Heart with Love Solids called Boysenberry. There were eight Roses per circle medallion so to do the 6 x 6 circle medallions was 12 - 13 skeins for the Boysenberry colored Roses.

For the green leaves surrounding the Roses I used Lion Brand Vannas Choice in Kelly Green. I was able to do up 4 of the Rose circle medallions from one skein. I used 9 skeins.
