I have a loom again She’s a 24” wide eight-harness table loom made by Harris Looms.

Along with the loom I also got a bunch of yarn, so my inaugural project was to begin to use it up.

It was an absolute joy to feel all the muscle memory come back at every step. It was like it’s been days, not years, since I’ve done this last.

I made a scarf plus a bit of extra fabric that I sewed into a drawstring bag. The scarf is for a friend who likes things colourful and appreciates the handmade, and the bag is for me.

Technical notes:

• 3.2 yard warp
• 440 pattern ends + 2 floating selvedges
• Wove scarf to 66” (left 5” fringe allowance on each end), finished length 64” (4” twisted fringes)
• On-loom width 13.8”, finished width 12.5”
• Finished length of fabric piece: 27”
