2013-10-01 I’m both flabbergasted and kind of furious.
I had the right stitch gauge but not the right row gauge, which of course is important in a project knitted sideways (Stephen’s gauge makes no sense at all to me, to be honest). Should have thought about that!
So I used up ALL of my yarn, which is 30% more yarn than the pattern said, and had to eventually complement with a contrasting yarn. Now both pieces have a part of the back - which will meet in/form the middle of the back - in the contrasting brown, and the collar will be brown too.
I still have to wash both pieces and block them before I can sew them and try it and see what I really think. I do love this yarn so very much, and the pattern, so I still hope this’ll work.
2013-10-13 Both pieces washed, blocked and sewn up. I have yet to pick up stitches for the collar and knit it up. I’m not sure if I really would wear this garment. I love the color (I love the yarn) so much, but it’s kind of an odd / slightly impractical garment, and I’m not quite sure it’s the right size for me (possibly a bit too big?) - it’s possible that its shape/proportions are not the kind that suits my silhouette… Giving myself some time to think about it and wear it at home a bit for short trials (before and after adding a collar), and then I’ll see if it needs unraveling.
