Knitting for my husband, he wants less positive ease than what the pattern calls for. His chest measures 37.5”(ish), so I will knit the 44.5” size (size “S” in the pattern)
Achieving pattern gauge on a US 7 (17 sts/4”). Will use a US 6 for the ribbing. (My row gauge is slightly larger at 24 rows per 4” vs pattern gauge of 26 rows per 4”)
Will need to monitor the fit of the yoke as I’m working it, and may need to adjust it.
Knitting the neck to 5.5” for a shorter turtleneck/mockneck
69 stitches per each sleeve
93 per front and back (each) + raglan stitches
Stitch count for sleeves matches pattern for second size.
Using a US 8 16” circular for sleeves (sizing up one US size) because my small circumference gauge is always tighter
Decreases per pattern.
Dec on 14th round
Dec on 10th round (52 sts)
2 plain rounds.
k2, k2tog all around until last 4 sts, k4 (40 sts)
17 rounds of 1x1 rib for cuff, then begin tubular setup rows.
Broke into my fifth skein for the setup rows for the tubular BO on the first sleeve
01-23-2025
Used US 7 12” circulars for sleeve cuff ribbing and BO
Used US 7 needles for body hem
64.8g remaining of 7th skein
Variations in final sweater vs pattern schematic:
chest circumference: 44.5” (vs pattern 44.25”)
length from underarm to hem: 16.25” (vs pattern 12.5”)
raglan yoke depth: 12.5” (vs pattern 9.25”)
sleeve length: 19” (vs pattern 15.25”)
Added nearly 4” in length to body
Added nearly 4” in length to sleeves
3.25” to raglan yoke depth (my row gauge was less dense than pattern gauge, so this actually worked okay with stitch counts)
