Cute, nay, adorable, slippers but. Seriously. For a $7 pattern, I shouldn’t have to reverse the shaping from one foot to another. That must be said right up front. Minus one star.

I gave this as a gift the way you see it in the picture, one slipper with a basted strap and button and one completely disassembled, so they can perhaps have a last soak to fit the recipient’s feet more closely. I wish I’d though of this earlier in the process; I’d have given them a quick initial felting and left it at that until after Christmas.

Knitting notes:

I took the advice of many others and added a few rows to the strap to increase the length.

These are a very fast knit and a somewhat longer-than-should-be sewing up, even though there’s nothing difficult about it.

Heel: I made two pair as gifts, and each time I hated the heel and had to modify them after the fact (a Frankenstein job if I’ve ever seen one, but it worked) and finally decided that you really don’t need to pull much, if at all, on the heel to for the cup shape. You’ll know what I mean by this once you get there in the pattern. When I make a third pair, I’m not pulling up on that yarn at all, and I am betting the heel will be fine.
