Came across these shoes and just had to try knitting them. Asked my teenaged daughter if she would like them and her answer was COOOOOL!! So here goes!
I am using the stitch pattern from: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/endpaper-mitts
I found it useful to chart the stitch pattern on to the plain chart given in the tutorial, scan it into the computer and then flip the image for the other side of shoe.
I made holes for the eyelets on the first piece that I knit but found them hard to place correctly. I didn’t bother making them for the rest of the pieces as it’s easy to make a little hole afterwards between the stitches.
Made paper template of the shoe pieces for blocking.
I removed a little bit of the glue holding the plastic strip of the shoe so that I could tuck in the cast on edge (just ran a small screwdriver around the edge a few times)
Gluing the pieces on wasn’t as hard as I expected, just took time, care and patience.
I finished them off by sewing on the back tabs and sewing an I cord instead of a braid around the edges.
Would be finished but I have to wait for the eyelets to arrive in the post.
Eyelets arrived but for some reason they had no backing pieces so had to order some more. They were quite hard to put in, I had to resort to applying them with a vice-grips.
My daughter is happy with them.
