The crochet technique is Tapestry Crochet (single crochet using two colors to create the designed motif) in black and cream Omega Hilos nylon yarn. I like this yarn for bags because it is durable. The bottom of the bag lies flat. When I stopped increasing in the single crochet stitch, the bag expands to the desired height of 14 inches. I created the repetitive motifs using PC Stitch, a cross stitch software. I crocheted around a button and created a flap that is fastened with a stationary button on the back. The bag is unlined. To give the bottom bag support and to display at City College of New York, CCNY Women Make Art exhibit, I inserted two pieces of plastic canvas and secured it with Velcro which can be removed. The handle is a crocheted in a seamless figure 8 and is secured to the bottom and along the height

I don’t have a graph for the handle. I improvised a handle and made a chain about 88 inches. Go back to the beginning chain and slip stitch to close the chain. I then single crochet using the tapestry crochet technique on both sides of the chain. See the following link which is to create a Mobius Shawl to start this chain

Every time I reached the beginning chain, I alternated the colors with cream, black, pale purple, and hot pink and continued until I reached the desired width.
Graph to create the body of the tote bag can be purchased at Etsy (see link below). This is NOT for the purchase of the physical bag. Prerequisites are the knowledge of tapestry crochet. For information on how to tapestry crochet view the following link. http://www.tapestrycrochet.com/
