7/25/15 - Yarn is handspun, heavy laceweight/light fingering weight; it’s a 3-ply hand spun by carbonel. I’m using 8/0 Miyuki silver-lined Dark Smokey Amethyst beads in place of nupps.
I knit the first clue on size 3, then went up to size 4 for the sideways Clue 2. For the nupps, I beaded the stitch before I knit it and again after, essentially once on the knit row and once on the return row.
8/3/15 - Clue 3 done, no problems. Clue 4, I am again replacing nupps with beads and beading twice, same as above, using the chart with the maximum nupps/beads.
6/2/16 - A break in the yarn and several months of PT for a shoulder problem has kept me from doing much knitting, but I am finally back at work on this. Just starting the edging and am worried about running out of beads.
6/6/16 - Finished and ready to block. Did not run out of beads, though it was a bit close; I think I have about 30 left out of 2 tubes. I did the final 2 rows with beads using only a 2-bead replacement for the nupps, instead of the four I’d used earlier. The two-bead replacements work better on the final rows, and if I’d tried for four, I’d have run out of beads. I love how it looks. As soon as it is blocked, I will do pics and call it finished.
6/12/16 - On the blocking boards. I love how it looks. This was the perfect yarn for this; the color changes work perfectly with the pattern. The top pictures are a bit washed out; the in-process pictures are closer to the actual colors of the yarn.
